Reporting to the Senior Publisher, the Publisher will manage a specified portfolio of publishing products. Working with the academic editors, the Publisher will ensure the development of the portfolio in line with publishing team’s strategic and commercial goals, and will identify and exploit new business opportunities.

Reporting to the Deputy Managing Director, Kate Sargent.

The Conference Producers will drive the development of Bioscientifica’s owned event portfolio and meet the growth strategy for the events division through the commissioning and production of events that are complementary to, and fully aligned with, the company strategy.

Key duties and responsibilities:
• Develop and grow a portfolio of events to increase the revenue and profitability of Bioscientifica’s Events division
• Identify, research and prioritise potential new events for launch, producing fully costed business plans for each
• Develop and refine business models to sustainably increase profitability
• Take a strategic view of the positioning of each event in the series in terms of marketing and sponsorship opportunities
• Commission compelling conference programmes that are topical, relevant and based on industry knowledge and research
• Oversee the operational team working on the delivery of each event in inaugural year
• Take responsibility for the profit and loss of each individual event in inaugural years as a cost centre
• Demonstrate a high level of communication with team members, other departments and external key stakeholders
• Have the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience to actively promote diversity and equality of opportunity, treat everyone with dignity and respect and avoid unlawful discrimination

What are we looking for?
The position holder should have
• A minimum of 3 years proven experience of developing and driving high quality event programmes
• Proven and demonstrable experience in relationship management within the biomedical industry
• Excellent interpersonal skills, in terms of dealing with stakeholders, staff and suppliers
• Excellent client management skills with a strong customer focus
• Very good time management skills and a demonstrative ability to multi-task and prioritise workloads
• Very good IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
• A commercial mindset and be able to translate research into commercial activities and speaker content

They should also be
• A confident strategic thinker who can actively contribute, champion and shape future meeting development
• An individual who is not afraid to take considered and measured risks when necessary with the guidance of the Deputy Managing Director
• Determined to ensure that the owned event series launch is executed in alignment with the overarching company strategy and the values of our shareholder
• An effective Team player with a can do attitude
• Self-reliant and able to remain calm under pressure
• Willing to travel within UK and internationally
