Invitation from the Local Organising Committee to the 5th International Congress of Neuroendocrinology 2002, Bristil UK.

The 5th ICN, 2002, in Bristol should prove to be a very memorable meeting. Bristol has a long and proud tradition in neuroendocrinology and has recently been chosen for a major UK investment in neuroendocrinology research with the construction of the Dorothy Hodgkin building and the Henry Wellcome laboratories for neuroendocrinology. The scientific sessions reflect the most exciting developments in neuroendocrinology and will be held right in the historic centre of Bristol. From the meeting venue beside the River Avon you will be within walking distance of the old port with its many attractions, and all the modern developments around the new Explore scientific centre (@Bristol) with its neighbouring art centres, shops, cafes and restaurants.

Bristol itself is a lovely city and is superbly situated close to the ancient city of Bath and within easy reach of Wells, Glastonbury, Stratford, the Cotswolds, Devon, Cornwall and London. Access is easy via Bristol International Airport or alternatively by train or coach from either Heathrow or Gatwick airports.

While you are in Bristol we have arranged a varied social programme with a Welcome Evening which includes free access to the Explore hands-on science museum; a music evening in our historic Cathedral with the internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist, Andy Sheppard; and a gala evening (including beer tasting!) in the converted engine sheds designed by the Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We look forward to sharing the science, fun and environment of this meeting with you.
