Sue Thorn BSc (Hons), MBA, FSB, FRSA

Sue Thorn joined the Society for Endocrinology in 1991 and set up BioScientifica in 1996. Her background is in scientific journal publishing and charity management, as well as in strategy and governance of medical and scientific societies.
As an expert in learned society governance, Sue led the 2007 working group of the Biosciences Federation to provide input into the new Charity Commission guidance on public benefit. In the scientific journal publishing sphere she has spoken at many events and was Chair of the international Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) from 2000 – 2002. She has been appointed the first chair of the Society of Biology’s Membership, Marketing and Communications Committee and also chairs their Journals Committee.
Sue has a first class honours BSc and a Master in Business Administration. In 2006 she was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and in 2009 was invited to be a Fellow of the Society of Biology. She is also a Member of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Society of Association Executives.
