Mr Leon Heward-Mills

Leon read Law and Biology at university and has over 20 years’ experience in scientific publishing.
He began his career with scientific and medical publisher Chapman and Hall, developing some of the first online journals in the early 1990s before moving to the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) where he had responsibility for print and digital publishing activities, developing the first ICE websites and online platforms.
Leon has been involved with learned societies for some 15 years, through his work with ICE boards and members and as Vice Chairman of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP). He has been a non-executive director of a local arts charity and is a qualified rugby union coach.
Leon joined the SfE Group as Chief Executive, Society for Endocrinology and Managing Director, Bioscientifica in June 2011.
