Professor Karen Chapman joined the Bioscientifica board in 2015, as General Secretary of the Society for Endocrinology (2015-2018). She currently holds a personal chair in Molecular Endocrinology at the University of Edinburgh, in the Centre for Cardiovascular Science at the Queen's Medical Research Institute, and is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Australia.
Professor Chapman joined the University of Edinburgh in 1991 from the MRC Brain Metabolism Unit in Edinburgh and before that, postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard University. She has wide-ranging interests in endocrinology, but particularly glucocorticoid action.
She has been an active member of the Society for Endocrinology for many years and has strong interests in early career researcher development and equality and diversity.
